Corner Corner represents a bold reinvention of commercial space within Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. We took over two former retail units, stripping them back to the shell and merging them into a single, flexible venue that combines dining, events, and urban agriculture under one roof. From the outset, the project demanded a comprehensive overhaul of the building’s infrastructure: we installed new HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, ensuring full compliance and supporting the diverse range of uses within the space.

Internally, the space was divided into multiple zones to create distinct yet connected experiences. The event space, currently running the Minecraft exibition, offers a versatile environment for live performances, exhibitions, and activations. Adjacent to this, the bar and restaurant area forms the social heart of the venue, featuring contemporary finishes and integrated seating that encourages flow and interaction.

At the centre of the project is a 30m by 20m indoor glass vertical farm — the first of its kind in the UK integrated within a working bar and restaurant. Designed by CHOKK, and managed by HARVEST, this state-of-the-art facility produces over 24 tonnes of leafy greens annually, creating a tangible link between urban agriculture and hospitality. Our team engineered the structure, coordinated services integration, and delivered the supporting infrastructure to allow the farm to operate safely and efficiently in a public-facing environment.

Corner Corner also features two fully equipped commercial kitchens, one of which has space for three separate vendors, all installed with fully electric systems. These kitchens were designed for maximum flexibility, hygiene, and efficiency, supporting the venue’s rotating culinary concepts while integrating seamlessly into the broader layout.

From stripping back to the raw shell, to delivering high-spec technical systems, bespoke joinery, and complex mechanical integration, our work ensured that every element of Corner Corner met the demanding functional, safety, and operational requirements of a modern, multi-use venue. The result is a pioneering space that fuses hospitality, culture, and innovation — a new benchmark for flexible urban venues where dining, events, and vertical farming coexist in a single, immersive environment.
