Drumsheds marked the transformation of a former IKEA warehouse into the UK’s largest nightclub — a monumental space capable of hosting up to 15,000 people. Our team led the complete redevelopment of the 608,000-square-foot structure, reimagining the vast retail shell into a dynamic, multi-room music venue that celebrates scale, energy, and industrial design.

Inside, we created three distinct music areas, each with its own acoustic and spatial identity. The main stage occupies the largest volume of the building, defined by towering heights and a raw, open aesthetic suited to large-scale productions. Adjacent to this, we constructed a secondary room featuring a bespoke jumbo acoustic wall system to contain and balance sound across spaces. The third, more intimate room was built from the site’s existing steel caging, reworked to form a compact stage area that feels immersive and tightly connected to the crowd.

Throughout the venue, we fabricated and installed a series of bespoke bar areas and service zones — some integrated directly into the main structure, others housed within repurposed shipping containers to create a flexible and modular layout. We also constructed dedicated merchandise stands, food stalls, and external trading areas, all designed to handle high-capacity events while retaining the venue’s raw, industrial edge.

Externally, we carried out extensive groundworks to form outdoor food market areas, secure perimeter fencing, and crowd control infrastructure. VIP lounges and elevated bar areas were designed and built to offer a contrasting atmosphere — refined yet industrial — featuring custom joinery, lighting, and finishes that complement the scale of the warehouse environment.

Drumsheds stands as a testament to adaptive reuse at its boldest: a defunct retail giant transformed into a landmark of London’s cultural scene. The project balanced technical complexity and creative ambition — from large-scale acoustic engineering to bespoke interior fabrication — to create a venue that merges precision build with raw atmosphere.
